Choosing how to dress to ‘fit the vibe’ and Professional Dressing is so important when turning up to style hair/makeup on your Brides wedding day. It shows you are a professional at what you do, also well presented in front of other professionals and clients alike.
Most importantly you are more than likely to be in the professional wedding prep photographs usually at a prestigious venue.
I personally avoid wearing bright patterned outfits, and clothes that are ‘too’ casual.
The professional approach is to ‘blend in’
Although this is a Black & White shot If in bright colours I would have totally stood out in this photo, and not in a good way! Â 'the wedding is not about us'.
Imagine being photographed working on your Bride at a beautiful stately home with ornate decor and the softness of the Bridal gown hanging in the background and there you are standing out in your bright floral blouse & big earrings. Not a good look!
Since the start of my training I always remember being told to blend in for the photographs, not to wear bold prints and this stuck so I always take time to dress smartly, often wearing 'Hairdresser Black' as we call it in the industry! Or classic Black & White.
It also makes it easy to get dressed when it's a very early start time, black matches black right!
With this in mind, and now there’s so many venues and themed weddings with a casual vibe, bright colours and lots of detail. I would still keep to the same rule and not add detail from my own attire to confuse the photo, let the client have their day 😊
